Some employers tend to think of Craigslist job postings as a waste of time. If you’re one of them, we’re here to tell you that there are certain things you can put into practice to get the results you desire. In this article, we’ll tell you what those things are. Quite simply, if you want your job postings to get rapid responses on Craigslist, you need to do what we tell you below. So, read on.
1. Include images in your job postings
Including images across your job postings on Craigslist isn’t compulsory. However, for the best results, we recommend including them. Some of the images you should include are:
- The company’s logo
- Images of the workplace (both the exterior and the interior)
Additionally, you should ensure that the images you’re adding to your postings are high-quality. All in all, the images you include should make your company look appealing to eligible candidates. If they do, resumes are bound to come your way.
2. Use the right keywords
The headline and text optimization are things that many employers don’t pay attention to when posting their ads on Craigslist. However, we recommend optimizing the headline and text content of your job posting with the appropriate target keywords.
Also, apart from including the target keywords, add keywords that are related to them. For instance, if you’re on the lookout for a chef, include the phrase ‘executive chef’ as well, as it tends to generate more responses compared to using the word ‘chef’ on its own. The point of this exercise is to generate greater exposure for your job posting.
3. Post your ad at the right time
Craigslist is one of the most popular platforms among job seekers. So, it’s quite obvious that if you don’t post your ad at the appropriate time, it will get buried under other ads. This is especially true if the job location is in a major city such as New York or Chicago. In such a scenario, your ad is likely to disappear within a matter of a few seconds if posted at the wrong time.
Ideally, you should target 11 AM – 12 noon for posting your ads on Craigslist, preferably between Monday – Thursday. From Friday – Saturday, job seekers tend to turn off to enjoy their weekends. So, posting your ads on weekends would amount to a waste of time.
4. Don’t include multiple positions in a single ad
Many employers get away with the tactic of including multiple job positions in a single Craigslist ad. However, we recommend not to experiment with this tactic, as it’s a blatant violation of Craigslist’s rules. While a single ad of this type probably won’t do too much damage, repeatedly using this tactic may get you permanently banned.
The best thing to do is to include only one position in one ad, i.e., if you have multiple vacancies, it’s best to post multiple ads. Sure, you’d have to pay more, but you won’t be breaking the rules, and you’ll also have a higher chance of getting more responses.
